The Samuelson Law, Technology and Public Policy Clinic and BriefBank ("we" or "us") respect your right to privacy and to control your personal information. We have created this privacy policy in order to inform you of our data practices, and our guidelines for use of visitor data.
Browsing the site. We do not track individual visitors to our website. When you browse the site, or when you read or download briefs, the BriefBank site captures limited information (user-agent, last URI requested by the user, client-side and server-side clickstreams) about visits to our site. We may use this information to analyze general traffic patterns (for example, to find out which pages are the most/least popular), to diagnose problems with our server and system bugs. On occasion, we may use this limited information for security purposes; for example, we may use IP address information to block transmissions from computers that are spamming the BriefBank site.
Submitting a brief. If you choose to submit a brief to BriefBank, we ask for your e-mail address on the submission form. You may also choose to give us your name, the name of your organization and the address of your web site, but this is entirely optional. If you choose to have your name and/or your organization listed as "Contributors" to the BriefBank site or if you choose to have your website address listed on the BriefBank site, then we will make that information publicly available on the BriefBank site. This is also entirely optional. If you choose not to make your name, organization or website address publicly available, then we will disclose it only to the attorneys and students working on the BriefBank project.
Sending us email. If you send us email and provide personally identifiable information about yourself, we will not use the information for any purpose other than to respond to your inquiry. If you are interested in joining our mailing list, we ask for your email address, which we will use only for the purposes of administering the mailing list.
Cookies. BriefBank does not use HTML cookies.
Security of information under our control. The BriefBank database is available only to BriefBank system administrators during password protected, encrypted sessions.
New Features. When and if we add new features to this site they will reflect our commitment to individual privacy. Any personal information required for new features will only be used for the purpose for which you provided it.
Contact Information. If you have any concerns about this policy, please contact the Samuelson Clinic at techclinic-webmaster@law.berkeley.edu or at (510) 643-4800.
